New York Islanders owner Charles Wang is talking to potential buyers about selling the majority of stakes in the NHL franchise, TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie reported late Thursday night. The franchise loses an estimated $10 million per season and it has been reported that Wang and the Islanders face a $75 million loan repayment at the end of this season. Wang has been the Islanders majority stakeholder since 2004, when he bought out the share of business partner Sanjay Kumar. In the nine seasons with the team, the Islanders have only advanced to the postseason twice and havent won a playoff round. The Islanders are slated to move to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn for the start of the 2015-16 season after Wang wasnt able to cut a deal with Nassau County for a new arena. San Antonio knotted the series with its Texas rival on Monday night with a 93-89 road victory at American Airlines Center. The two squads head back to AT&T Center Wednesday night, a place the Mavericks won Game 2 handily and shouldve won Game 1. Monta Ellis missed a trey for the tie at the other end, but Dirk Nowitzki corralled the offensive rebound and put it back in, cutting the deficit to one. Manu Ginobili then split a pair of free throws with 10.4 seconds left to make it a two-point game. Coming out of a timeout, Ellis drove the lane and tried banking in the layup to tie, but his attempt clanked off the rim and Tim Duncan grabbed the rebound with 1.9 seconds left.
